"Carmen"
Artist: Janus
Title: “Carmen”
Technique: Mixed technique with ducats double gold 23 carat, glowing in the night
Size: 90 × 140 cm
Date: 2026 - SOLD
Carmen does not narrate the story of Bizet's famous heroine; instead, it captures her spirit. It is a painterly interpretation of the moment when music transforms into movement and movement becomes pure emotion. Every gesture of the brush vibrates with the rhythm of flamenco, passionate, powerful, and irresistibly free.
The dominant reds symbolize fire, love, courage, and the intensity of life. They spread across the canvas like the swirling dress of a flamenco dancer whose every turn releases another wave of energy. Contrasting blues and violets introduce moments of calm, a breath between the powerful beats of music. Dynamic black lines evoke the expressive movements of arms and hands that define the language of flamenco. The entire composition lives in the delicate balance between tenderness and strength.
A distinctive feature of Janus' artistic language is the use of circles made from 23-carat gold leaf. According to bioenergy therapists, these golden circles act as energetic centers that gather positive, harmonizing energy and radiate it toward the viewer. The gold therefore becomes far more than a decorative element, it symbolizes light, vitality, and inner balance.
The artwork reveals three different identities depending on the surrounding light.
In natural daylight, the painting captivates through its rich textures and vibrant colors, expressing the passionate vitality of Carmen's dance.
Under ultraviolet light, an entirely new dimension emerges. Hidden fluorescent lines and structures become visible, creating an additional visual rhythm that remains invisible under ordinary illumination. The composition seems to resonate beyond the physical world, as if the music itself had become visible.
In complete darkness, the painting emits its own luminous presence. This is not the same effect as under UV light; instead, a quieter, more contemplative image appears. Glowing traces remain like the lingering memory of a dance that continues long after the orchestra has played its final note.
Carmen is a celebration of freedom, passion, and the unstoppable energy of life. Rather than depicting movement, it allows the viewer to experience it, inviting everyone to discover within themselves the same courage and vitality that define Carmen's eternal dance.
